Citicoline is a prescription neuro-drug in dozens of countries, but its two largest placebo-controlled trials — ICTUS in acute stroke and COBRIT in traumatic brain injury — both failed on their primary endpoints. Huperzine A works by a completely different, more aggressive mechanism: reversible inhibition of acetylcholinesterase, the same drug class as donepezil, dosed in micrograms with a real interaction and side-effect profile most buyers don't realize they're taking on. Neither has convincing evidence in healthy adults seeking a cognitive edge.

You want the gentler mechanism (a choline precursor, not an enzyme inhibitor), accepting its largest trials were negative.
