Fisetin is having a moment. It is a flavonoid found in strawberries that laboratories have singled out as one of the more promising senolytics — compounds that selectively clear the worn-out “senescent” cells that accumulate with age. That is a genuinely exciting idea, and it is also exactly why the supplement aisle is now full of bottles promising to “reverse aging.” The honest picture is narrower: the headline results are in mice, the human anti-aging case is unproven, and fisetin is poorly absorbed to begin with. This is a buyer’s guide built on that reality — the verifiable criteria that separate a sensible fisetin supplement from a marketing exercise, not a fake ranking of products we never tested.

First, the honest evidence frame

Cellular senescence — cells that stop dividing but linger and secrete inflammatory signals — is one of the recognized hallmarks of aging, and clearing those cells is a leading anti-aging strategy.[2] Screening work identified fisetin as a natural flavonoid with senolytic activity, able to reduce senescent-cell burden in tissue and cell models.[3] In aged mice, fisetin then extended health and lifespan.[1] Related senolytic approaches have improved physical function and lifespan in old mice as well.[4] The consistent thread is that this is compelling preclinical science. The leap the marketing makes — from aged mice to human anti-aging — is precisely the leap the data have not yet made.

In people, the field is early. Small pilot senolytic trials in humans have begun to test feasibility and safety in specific conditions,[9] and dedicated fisetin protocols — including trials run through the Mayo Clinic — have been designed and launched, but robust outcome data are not in yet.[5][6] Treat fisetin as a promising research compound, not a validated therapy.

Criterion 1 — A disclosed dose (and honesty about the uncertainty)

Here is the uncomfortable truth: no one has established the correct human dose of fisetin. The mouse senolytic protocols that produced the headline results used high, intermittent doses — on the order of ~20 mg/kg given in short “hit-and-run” courses rather than daily forever.[1] Human supplements, meanwhile, commonly sell 100–500 mg per capsule, and human trials have explored intermittent high-dose regimens.[5] Those are not the same thing, and translating a per-kilogram mouse dose to a person is not a simple multiplication. What you can insist on is transparency: the label should state the actual milligrams of fisetin per serving, not bury it in a “proprietary longevity blend.” If you cannot tell how much you are taking, you cannot reason about it at all.

Criterion 2 — Absorption-minded form, with an honest caveat

Fisetin’s biggest practical weakness is poor oral bioavailability — it is absorbed and cleared quickly, so much of a plain-powder dose may never reach a meaningful blood level.[7]That is the real problem formulators are trying to solve. You will see liposomal fisetin, “Novusetin,” and products advising you to take it with a fatty meal; preclinical work on nano- and lipid-based delivery systems does show improved absorption of fisetin in models.[8]The honest caveat: better absorption in a lab model is not the same as a proven clinical advantage in you. An absorption-minded form is a reasonable preference, not a guarantee — treat “10× absorption” claims as marketing until a human study says otherwise.

Criterion 3 — Third-party testing and a Certificate of Analysis

Fisetin is a botanical extract, and botanical supply chains vary in identity and purity. The single most useful trust signal is an independent Certificate of Analysis (COA): outside-lab verification of identity, actual fisetin content, and screening for heavy metals and microbial contamination. Look for testing by a third party (not just the word “tested” on the label) and a batch or lot number you can match to that COA.

Criterion 4 — Purity, fillers and manufacturing

Prefer products made in a facility following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), with a short, legible ingredient list. Be wary of unnecessary dyes, heavy filler loads, or “complex” formulas that fold fisetin into a crowd of other actives at token amounts — those make it impossible to know what dose of fisetin you are actually getting.

Criterion 5 — Marketing that respects the evidence

This is a criterion, not an afterthought. A company’s claims tell you how it thinks. Any bottle promising to “reverse aging,” “turn back your biological clock,” or “remove zombie cells” as settled fact is describing mouse-stage science as if it were a proven human outcome. That overreach is a reason to distrust everything else on the label, including the parts you cannot verify. Prefer sellers who state plainly that fisetin is a research-stage senolytic.

How to choose in 60 seconds

Confirm the label states real milligrams of fisetin. Prefer an absorption-minded form, but read its claims skeptically. Require a third-party COA and cGMP manufacturing. Reject any product that markets fisetin as a proven anti-aging cure. Then compare finalists on price per disclosed milligram. That is the whole decision — and none of it requires believing the hype.

Safety: read this before you buy

Fisetin is generally well tolerated in the short human studies done so far, but “senolytic doses” are high and intermittent, and long-term safety in healthy people is not established.[5] Because fisetin can affect drug-metabolizing pathways and may interact with other medications, it is not something to layer casually on top of prescription drugs, and it is not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding. The best product for you is simply the honestly labeled one: a disclosed milligram dose of a reasonable form, backed by a third-party COA and cGMP manufacturing, from a seller that does not oversell. Buy on those criteria, keep your expectations grounded in what has actually been shown, and talk to a clinician if you take other medications.
