Head-to-head

Pentadeca Arginate vs TB-500

A rebranded BPC-157 salt with almost no literature of its own, against a peptide whose single randomized human result is about an eye drop.

By Julian RothResearch & dataUpdated October 2026

Short answer

Both rest mostly on animal and lab work, so the evidence cannot separate pentadeca arginate from TB-500. Pentadeca arginate is the one sold for healing and recovery, while TB-500 targets recovery and tissue repair. Both are sold gray-market as research chemicals.

Pentadeca Arginate

PDA

Preclinical / minimal

Marketed as a more stable upgrade on BPC-157, but it has almost no research of its own — the evidence base is borrowed and preclinical.

TB-500

Thymosin β4

Preclinical / minimal

Mechanistic and early-stage human work (e.g. ophthalmology); no performance or recovery outcome trials.

marks a row where the two differ. “Not established” marks a cell the available evidence does not answer. Evidence grades come from our evidence matrix, which grades each molecule on the human data for the use it is marketed for.

Preclinical / minimal:
Evidence is largely animal, in-vitro, or anecdotal. Little or no controlled human outcome data for the marketed use.

Our verdict

TB-500 is the better-documented molecule, though not for the reason it is sold. Thymosin beta-4 has Phase 2 randomized data in severe dry eye using an ophthalmic solution, plus preclinical work in stroke, traumatic brain injury and cardiac repair; the injectable TB-500 marketed for muscle and tendon recovery has no published human efficacy trials, no established dosing, and is prohibited in sport by WADA. Pentadeca arginate has essentially no direct research at all and inherits its entire case from BPC-157's rodent studies. Neither is an approved drug, they have never been compared directly, and neither has human recovery outcomes.

Pentadeca Arginate fits if

Hard to justify on evidence; if the BPC-157 mechanism is what interests you, read the parent molecule rather than its arginate rebrand.

TB-500 fits if

Someone curious about actin-sequestering repair biology or the dry-eye program, who keeps that narrow clinical result separate from the recovery marketing.

Pentadeca Arginate vs TB-500: common questions

Is either pentadeca arginate or TB-500 FDA-approved?
No. Pentadeca arginate is not an approved drug anywhere; sold online as research use only. TB-500 is not an approved drug; prohibited in sport by WADA.
Which has stronger human evidence, pentadeca arginate or TB-500?
Neither. Both are graded preclinical / minimal, with little or no controlled human outcome data for the marketed use. The key source for pentadeca arginate is Sikiric, Inflammopharmacology 2024; for TB-500, it is Expert Opin Biol Ther, 2018.
What are the main safety concerns with pentadeca arginate and TB-500?
For pentadeca arginate, watch for unknown purity, sterility and dosing; no direct human or animal studies. TB-500 has no human efficacy trials, established dose or long-term safety data for the injectable.
