JustAnswer Weight Loss review

Low annual-plan price, monthly unclear

JustAnswer's compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide program, with physician review through MD Integrations and free shipping, priced from $112.49 a month on an annual plan.

Our verdict

JustAnswer, the company known for its pay-per-question expert site, sells compounded GLP-1s through its JustAnswer Pharmacy telehealth line. The headline prices are low: $112.49 a month for semaglutide and $195.82 a month for tirzepatide. Both apply only with an annual plan, and the site doesn't show what a single month costs before you start the intake, so you can't compare it fairly with month-to-month sellers. The process itself is lean: a five-minute questionnaire, a physician's review within about a day, and free shipping in about three days, with refills you can cancel from your account. There's little on the site about ongoing support beyond dose adjustments, and medication can't be returned once it ships. It's a reasonable choice if you're comfortable committing to a year, but get the monthly price and the annual plan's cancellation terms in writing first.

What it is

The program is run by JustAnswer LLC, based in Covina, California, through JustAnswer Pharmacy, a telehealth service that also treats acid reflux, hair loss, erectile dysfunction, skin conditions and other everyday problems. JustAnswer doesn't employ the prescribers. Its provider network is MD Integrations, a telehealth physician group, and its FAQ says the doctors are U.S.-based and licensed in the patient's state, naming the physicians assigned in California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. Prescriptions are filled by affiliated pharmacies, which it names as Manifest Pharmacy in Greer, South Carolina and RX Compounding Store in Miami, Florida, depending on the medication. The service is for adults 18 and older in the United States, with state-by-state restrictions disclosed during intake rather than listed on the site. Disputes go to binding arbitration in San Diego under California law.

How it works

You start with an online health questionnaire that takes about five minutes. Because state rules require prescribers to see who they're treating, you may be asked for a photo of your ID and a selfie. A physician in the MD Integrations network reviews your answers, and you should hear back within about 24 hours; in some states a phone or video consultation is required, and the doctor contacts you to complete it. If compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide is appropriate, the prescription goes to one of its partner pharmacies and ships free, which the site estimates at about 72 hours, without needing a signature. You can also ask for the prescription to be sent to your local pharmacy, though JustAnswer's pricing won't apply there. The product pages say physicians monitor your progress and adjust your dose. Beyond that, the site describes progress tracking and refill management in your account, and support by email, phone and ticket.

Pricing transparency

JustAnswer publishes two prices: compounded semaglutide at $112.49 a month and compounded tirzepatide at $195.82 a month, both marked as the price with purchase of an annual plan. It doesn't say whether the annual plan is paid up front or billed monthly, or what a month-to-month plan costs, so that only becomes clear during intake. The online consultation is included, and shipping is free. According to the FAQ, you're billed for medication when it ships, based on the treatment plan you choose, and you're contacted before each refill is billed. You can reorder or cancel at any time from your account. Once your card has been charged and the package is with the carrier, all sales are final, and federal and state rules don't allow prescription returns. Lost packages are reshipped. Insurance isn't accepted, and the site doesn't mention HSA or FSA cards.

Branded vs compounded

The program offers compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and haven't been reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality, which the site states on each product page. Its weight-loss figures of 15% to 20% for semaglutide and 20% to 25% for tirzepatide come from trials of the brand-name drugs, not from JustAnswer's patients. Brand-name Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro aren't offered, and there's no oral option. The site links to LegitScript's lookup page rather than showing a numbered seal. A search of the FDA warning-letter database under JustAnswer, its pharmacy partners and MD Integrations returned no letters to them.
