Wholesome Clinic review

Labs-first NP care, seven states

A Frisco, Texas practice offering labs-first GLP-1 care by video in seven states: all-inclusive compounded plans from $159 a month, or brand-name Wegovy and Zepbound through your insurance.

Our verdict

Wholesome Clinic suits people who want a GLP-1 prescribed the careful way: a real video evaluation, labs before anything is written, and follow-up visits every four to eight weeks with the same nurse practitioner. The all-inclusive plans are clearly laid out by month and dose, starting at $159 a month for compounded semaglutide and $249 for oral tirzepatide, with visits and shipping folded in. It also stands out for giving you a path to brand-name Wegovy or Zepbound through insurance, since the clinic bills many plans for its visits. The trade-offs: it treats patients in only seven states, prices climb as your dose rises, labs cost extra, and the site doesn't name the pharmacy that compounds its medication.

What it is

Wholesome Clinic, LLC is an integrative psychiatry and wellness practice based at 7978 Preston Road in Frisco, Texas. Its main work is mental health care, including Spravato treatment for depression, but it also offers medical weight loss, virtual primary and urgent care, and perimenopause and menopause care. Weight-loss patients see Stephanie Ukoha, a nurse practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and dual board certification in family and psychiatric care, licensed in all seven states the clinic serves; she reports more than 18 years in health care and over a decade as a nurse practitioner. A collaborating psychiatrist is listed in a supervisory role but doesn't see patients. Telehealth is available in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Oregon and Arkansas, and you must be in one of those states at the time of your visit. Local patients can also be seen in person in Frisco, though weight-loss injections are always self-administered at home.

How it works

You book a virtual consultation online or by phone, and same-week appointments are often available. Before the visit, the clinic requires baseline labs: a comprehensive metabolic panel, fasting glucose or A1c, a lipid panel, TSH and a pregnancy test where relevant. Results from the past six to twelve months may be accepted, and patients without insurance can order panels through the clinic's discount lab store. The first visit is a 30- to 45-minute video evaluation covering your history, medications, labs, prior weight-loss attempts and GLP-1 precautions such as thyroid, pancreatitis and gallbladder history. The provider then lays out the options, from compounded oral or injectable medication to brand-name Wegovy or Zepbound through insurance, or another approach such as phentermine, Contrave or orlistat. Prescriptions are issued only when appropriate. Compounded plans ship to your home, while brand-name prescriptions go to your local pharmacy. Follow-up visits every four to eight weeks for dose changes and side effects are built into the monthly plan.

Pricing transparency

The compounded plans are all-inclusive: the clinic says the monthly rate covers your medical evaluation, the medication and home delivery, with no separate visit charges. Semaglutide is priced by stage. Injectable semaglutide with B12 is $159 a month for the first two months at 0.25 mg, $189 for months three and four, $219 at month five and $249 at the 2.4 mg maintenance dose. Oral semaglutide tablets with B12 run $159, $189 and then $229. Oral tirzepatide tablets are $249 at 3 mg, $299 at 4 mg and $349 at 5 mg, and injectable tirzepatide with niacinamide is $349 at 2.5 to 5 mg, $449 at 7.5 to 10 mg and $549 at 12.5 to 15 mg. If the provider decides during your first visit that medication isn't appropriate, the clinic keeps a $99 evaluation fee and refunds the rest of your first payment. Labs are extra. Patients who choose a brand-name drug or an older oral medication pay $149 for the initial weight-loss visit and $75 per follow-up, or use insurance, and buy the medication at their pharmacy.

Branded vs compounded

Compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide, each as a weekly injection or a daily oral dissolving tablet, with B12 added to the semaglutide and niacinamide to the injectable tirzepatide. Compounded drugs are made by a pharmacy for an individual prescription and are not FDA-approved; the clinic says so plainly but doesn't name the compounding pharmacy, so ask if that matters to you. Brand-name Wegovy and Zepbound can be prescribed and sent to your local pharmacy, which is the route to use if your plan covers them; the clinic helps with prior authorization. Older oral options, including phentermine, Qsymia, Contrave and orlistat, are also available. A search of the FDA warning-letter database for Wholesome Clinic returned no letters.

Frequently asked

How much does Wholesome Clinic cost for semaglutide?
Compounded semaglutide plans are $159 a month for the first two months, then step up with the dose to $249 a month for the injection or $229 for oral tablets. The monthly price includes visits, medication and shipping. Labs are extra.
Does Wholesome Clinic take insurance for weight loss?
It accepts many insurance plans for visits, and if your plan covers Wegovy or Zepbound, the prescription can go to your local pharmacy. Compounded medication is self-pay and isn't covered by insurance.
Which states does Wholesome Clinic serve?
Telehealth is available in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Oregon and Arkansas. You must be located in one of those states at the time of your visit, and in-person visits are available in Frisco, Texas.
Do I need labs before starting?
Yes. The clinic requires a metabolic panel, glucose or A1c, a lipid panel, TSH and a pregnancy test where relevant before prescribing. Recent results from the past six to twelve months may be accepted.
What happens if I'm not approved?
If the provider decides medication isn't appropriate during your first visit, the clinic keeps a $99 evaluation fee and refunds the rest of your first monthly payment.
Is Wholesome Clinic legit?
Wholesome Clinic is a GLP-1 telehealth service you reach through a video visit with a clinician. The medications it names are Compounded semaglutide, Compounded tirzepatide and branded medication. Its stated availability: 7 states (TX, CO, NM, OK, LA, OR, AR). What it publishes up front: Compounded semaglutide $159–$249/mo, tirzepatide $249–$549/mo by dose, visits and shipping included; labs separate. It states it works with insurance. Those are the provider's own published claims rather than checks we could run ourselves, so get the ones that matter to you confirmed in writing before you pay.
Is Wholesome Clinic expensive compared with other GLP-1 telehealth providers?
Wholesome Clinic publishes a starting figure of $159/mo. Across the 87 GLP-1 telehealth providers we review that publish a single monthly figure, those run $49 to $399 with a median of $190, which puts Wholesome Clinic below the median, toward the cheaper end. The other 101 GLP-1 telehealth providers we review quote only after an intake or price by dose, so they are not in that comparison. A starting figure is not a bill — labs, consultations and shipping are often charged separately, so confirm what your own quote includes.
