Dihexa vs P21
Two preclinical nootropic peptides with no human trials at all. The only real difference is which unanswered question is bigger: safety, or what is actually in the vial.
Short answer
Dihexa and P21 are both graded preclinical / minimal, which leaves little or no controlled human data to choose between them. Dihexa is the one sold for cognition and memory, while P21 targets cognition and neurogenesis. Both are sold gray-market as research chemicals.
Dihexa
Builds synapses potently in animals, but there are no human trials — and its c-Met growth-pathway mechanism raises unanswered safety questions.

marks a row where the two differ. “Not established” marks a cell the available evidence does not answer. Evidence grades come from our evidence matrix, which grades each molecule on the human data for the use it is marketed for.
- Preclinical / minimal:
- Evidence is largely animal, in-vitro, or anecdotal. Little or no controlled human outcome data for the marketed use.
Our verdict
Neither has been given to people in a published clinical trial, so there is no human efficacy data, no established dose, and no human safety profile for either, and neither is approved anywhere. Dihexa's rodent and cell-culture data are striking, but its mechanism deliberately activates the HGF/c-Met growth pathway, which is an open safety question rather than a documented harm. P21's animal data come almost entirely from one research program, and the name is genuinely ambiguous, since 'P21' collides with the unrelated cell-cycle protein CDKN1A and vendors use 'P21' and 'P021' interchangeably. Both are research-only chemicals, and no head-to-head work exists.
Dihexa fits if
Dihexa is the one to follow if synaptogenesis and the angiotensin IV literature interest you, with the c-Met caveat front of mind.
P21 fits if
P21 is the one to follow if hippocampal neurogenesis and CNTF-derived neurotrophic mimetics are the thread, provided you know it means P021.
Dihexa vs P21: common questions
- Is either Dihexa or P21 FDA-approved?
- No. Dihexa is not an approved drug; sold online as an unregulated research chemical. P21 is sold as an unapproved research chemical; not approved anywhere and untested in humans.
- Which has stronger human evidence, Dihexa or P21?
- Neither. Both are graded preclinical / minimal, with little or no controlled human outcome data for the marketed use. The key source for Dihexa is Benoist, J Pharmacol Exp Ther 2014; for P21, it is Kazim, Neurobiol Dis 2014.
- What are the main safety concerns with Dihexa and P21?
- Dihexa has no human safety data; activates c-Met, a growth pathway, raising theoretical cancer concerns. P21 has no human safety data; vial contents and dose are unverified.

- Dihexa: a striking preclinical nootropic with zero human evidence
An orally-active angiotensin-IV–derived compound famous for building synapses “more potently than BDNF” in the lab. The animal data are real — but there are no human trials, and its c-Met growth-pathway mechanism raises unanswered safety questions.
