A real, selective free-radical mechanism from 2007 — but the flagship Parkinson's story is a three-act replication failure (positive pilot, null 178-patient multicenter trial, null inhalation trial by the same investigators), and a 2026 meta-analysis of 13 RCTs called the pooled metabolic-lipid effects 'clinically modest,' with several of the more favorable trials carrying industry or device-maker ties.

Our verdict

Oral glutathione genuinely raises the body's own glutathione stores in a six-month RCT, though the effect reverses on stopping and the detox/anti-aging claims built on that biomarker are unproven. Molecular hydrogen works by a different, more selective mechanism, but its clearest human story — a Parkinson's pilot — failed to replicate twice, and its metabolic-syndrome trials are modest and often industry-linked. Neither has a trial showing it slows aging or prevents disease in healthy people.

Glutathione fits if

You want the better-established route to raising an antioxidant biomarker, ideally via the cheaper glycine+NAC precursor combination rather than glutathione itself.

Molecular hydrogen fits if

You're drawn to the more selective free-radical mechanism specifically, and you're realistic that the human evidence is thinner and more inconsistent than glutathione's.
