Kisspeptin vs Oxytocin
Two genuine human hormones with real academic literatures and two different failure modes: oxytocin's famous findings did not replicate, and kisspeptin's research never reached late stage.
Kisspeptin
A real hormone atop the reproductive axis with serious early human research — but the marketed libido and T-booster products are off-label extrapolations at unestablished doses.

The 'bonding hormone' has a huge human literature — but its famous trust and behavior findings largely failed to replicate; approved only as injectable Pitocin for labor, not for the marketed claims.

Our verdict
Neither supports the products sold for libido or connection. Oxytocin has one of the largest human literatures of any molecule here, but the 2005 trust result proved fragile, a 2015 critical review found the effect weak and poorly reproduced, and the 2021 NEJM autism randomized trial was negative; its only approval is intravenous Pitocin in obstetrics. Kisspeptin's human research is smaller but structurally sound, with receptor loss-of-function mutations shown to cause failure to go through puberty and intravenous kisspeptin-10 stimulating LH in men, yet it is early-phase, mostly short infusions, and unapproved anywhere. The two have not been compared directly.
Kisspeptin fits if
Kisspeptin is the better read for anyone interested in reproductive-axis endocrinology and where early human mechanistic work actually stands.
Oxytocin fits if
Oxytocin is the better read for anyone interested in social neuroscience, and in why a large and popular literature had to be walked back.
