These two are near-twins on evidence quality: coherent animal mechanisms, with Noopept raising NGF and BDNF and Semax raising BDNF while touching dopamine, and human trials that are small, Russian, and comparator-controlled or uncontrolled rather than placebo-controlled. Noopept's most-cited human study compared it against piracetam, itself unapproved in the West; Semax's best-controlled human data is a placebo-controlled fMRI study measuring brain signals, not clinical outcomes. They have not been tested against each other, and both reach US buyers as unregulated research-only material.
