What it is

SkinnyRx is a cash-pay GLP-1 weight-loss service run by Lean Rx, Inc., which describes itself in its terms as a technology platform, "not a healthcare provider nor a pharmacy." Prescribing is done by independent clinicians of affiliated medical practices, under a named medical director, Sajad Zalzala, M.D. The menu is compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, each as a once-weekly injection or a once-daily dissolving tablet, with a microdosing option on three of the four. It also sells compounded sermorelin injections at $199 a month and a paid Metabolic Health program built around a Dexcom Stelo glucose sensor and its app. The branded Wegovy pill and the Foundayo pill appear on the menu "via SkinnyRx Membership," but both were marked unavailable when this review was written.

How it works

You complete an online medical intake, which SkinnyRx says takes about five minutes. A licensed U.S. clinician reviews it and, depending on your state, either writes the prescription directly or books a short video visit first; SkinnyRx says most decisions come within 24 hours. Once a prescription is written, you should get shipping and tracking details within two business days, and the product pages promise free overnight shipping. After that, a refill form arrives at the end of each month, a provider checks whether you should continue, and the next shipment goes out automatically if you are approved. Questions about side effects or dose go through the patient portal at no extra charge, and the app handles dose reminders, weight logging and meal ideas. SkinnyRx does not name its pharmacies. It says medication comes from U.S. state-licensed pharmacies and that its partner pharmacies send every compounded lot for third-party testing (sterility, endotoxin and pH on every batch, and a potency check every three to six months). Compounded medication is not offered in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi.

Pricing transparency

Here is what the site shows: compounded semaglutide injections $99 for the first month, compounded tirzepatide injections $99 for the first month, semaglutide tablets $149 for the first month and tirzepatide tablets $199 for the first month. A site-wide banner calls the $99 injection price "While Supplies Last," and a pop-up offers "up to 43% off." None of these pages states the monthly price that applies from month two, whether it changes as your dose rises, or whether the tablets and injections are priced differently later on. You see that only after creating an account, so get the renewal price before you pay. The subscription renews automatically and can be charged up to five days before each new period. To stop the next charge, cancel at least five days before the renewal date. SkinnyRx takes FSA and HSA cards and offers Affirm financing at 0% to 36% APR, and it does not bill insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. On refunds, you get your money back in full if you cancel before a clinician completes your prescription review, or within 24 to 48 hours if you are found ineligible. Once the prescription is written and fulfillment has started, the order is non-refundable, partly used months are not refunded, and bundled subscriptions are non-refundable. If you cancel before a promotional or committed term ends, the discount you received can be clawed back. Any refund that is approved requires you to return the unopened medication at your own cost first. The terms also set out a 90-day money-back guarantee, but it pays only if your weight after 90 days is the same as or higher than your starting weight, and only if you kept a continuously paid membership and logged your weight and every dose in the app each week.

Branded vs compounded

Compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide, as weekly injections or daily tablets dissolved under the tongue. These are pharmacy-compounded products, not the FDA-approved Wegovy or Zepbound, and SkinnyRx's own disclaimers say so. The weight-loss trial results belong to the branded injections; the FDA does not test compounded versions for potency or purity, which is why the lot-testing SkinnyRx describes matters. The tablets are a further step from that evidence, since no under-the-tongue semaglutide or tirzepatide is FDA-approved and published human absorption data for these formulations is thin. SkinnyRx's own FAQ says studies favor injections over the sublingual form for weight loss. The branded Wegovy pill and Foundayo are listed with a separate membership but were shown as unavailable. SkinnyRx received an FDA warning letter in February 2026, which is disclosed and linked on this page.
