Fitness RX review

GLP-1 with a fitness app

A Florida company that pairs brand-name or compounded GLP-1 prescriptions with its Body FX workout and nutrition app, advertised from $119 a month.

Our verdict

Fitness RX comes from the fitness side of weight loss: the GLP-1 prescription is the first phase of a plan that adds mindset coaching and, later, short workouts through its Body FX app. Clinicians can prescribe brand-name Ozempic, Wegovy or Zepbound as well as compounded semaglutide, under-the-tongue semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide, and the company names all six of its partner pharmacies. The weak spot is price detail. The only figure on the site is "as low as $119 a month including medication," with no price by drug, dose or plan, and its terms add a $5 to $20 shipping fee and rule out refunds once an order ships. If the app and coaching appeal to you, it's worth a look, but get the full monthly price for your medication and dose before you subscribe.

What it is

Fitness RX LLC is based in Coral Gables, Florida, and is a separate company from FitRx, the New York-based telehealth brand with a similar name. It says it has spent 15 to 20 years in the weight-loss and fitness business, and its Body FX app supplies workouts, a nutrition approach, daily mindset coaching, progress tracking and a community. Beyond GLP-1s, its main site lists NAD+, sermorelin and hormone replacement pathways. Fitness RX says it doesn't employ or supervise the clinicians who prescribe; independent licensed clinicians make every prescribing decision. Its contact page names six partner pharmacies in Florida, Texas and Iowa: Belmar Pharma Solutions, The Pharmacy Hub, Perfect RX in Plano and in Washington, Iowa, Tampa Specialty Pharmacy and Epiq Scripts. Its help center says the service is available in all 50 states and D.C. Disputes go to individual arbitration in Miami, with a 30-day window to opt out.

How it works

You start with an online medical intake covering your health history, medications and goals. A licensed clinician reviews it asynchronously, usually within minutes, according to the help center, and decides whether a GLP-1 is right for you. Visits are handled through secure messaging unless the clinician decides a video visit is needed. If you're prescribed, a partner pharmacy ships your medication directly to you, usually within two to four business days. After that, you check in with your clinician every four weeks by completing a follow-up form, and the clinician reviews your progress and side effects and adjusts the plan. You also get unlimited access to a care team for non-medical questions, and clinical questions are passed to your prescriber. The three-phase plan starts with medication, adds behavior and mindset work, and finishes with six-minute workouts in the Body FX app once you've lost weight.

Pricing transparency

The only price Fitness RX publishes is "as low as $119 a month including medication," which it says covers physician consults, tailored dosing and unlimited care-team access. It doesn't say which medication or dose that applies to, and there's no price list for brand-name drugs, compounded drugs or the sublingual option. Sign-up pages also run a $20-off code for new patients. Its terms say the service is a subscription with recurring billing, that you can cancel any time from your account dashboard, and that cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. If your clinician decides you need a higher dose, the company says it will tell you about any cost increase and won't charge more without your consent. Shipping costs $5 to $20 depending on the product and destination, which sits awkwardly beside a help-center answer promising no hidden fees. All purchases are final once an order is processed and shipped; damaged or incorrect orders reported within 48 hours are replaced.

Branded vs compounded

Fitness RX clinicians may prescribe brand-name Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound, compounded semaglutide by injection or as a sublingual form, compounded tirzepatide, and other GLP-1-related medications at their discretion. Its help center explains that GLP-1s can be weekly injections or daily tablets, depending on what's prescribed. The brand-name drugs are FDA-approved; compounded versions are not, and the FDA doesn't review them for safety, effectiveness or quality. Insurance isn't mentioned, so expect to pay cash, and ask how brand-name pricing works before choosing one. Prescriptions are filled by the six named partner pharmacies, so you can look up each one yourself. The site displays a LegitScript seal. A search of the FDA warning-letter database under the company's name and web address returned no letters.
