Our verdict
Hims is the familiar, app-first way to get a brand-name GLP-1, and its weight menu is all FDA-approved drugs: the Wegovy pill and pen, Zepbound, Foundayo, the Ozempic pill and pen, and Mounjaro. The headline price needs reading carefully. "From $149/mo" is the medication alone, and medication isn't available without a Hims Weight Loss Membership, which is $39 for the first month and $149 a month after that. So the cheapest plan, a starting Wegovy pill or Foundayo, costs about $188 in month one and $298 a month after. A Wegovy pen starts at about $348 a month all-in and Zepbound at about $448, before any dose increases. What the membership buys is round-the-clock messaging with providers, an app, a smart scale and partner discounts. It doesn't buy insurance billing. Hims is cash-pay, GLP-1s aren't offered in every state, and Hims received an FDA warning letter in September 2025.

Hims is the men's brand of Hims & Hers Health, a large consumer telehealth company; the women's brand, Hers, runs its own version of the program and has its own review. Hims's weight program, Weight Loss by Hims, pairs prescription GLP-1s with a paid membership and care delivered mostly through its app. The program lists only brand-name drugs: the Wegovy pill, a Wegovy pill microdosing plan, the Wegovy pen (with high doses up to 7.2 mg), the Zepbound vial and KwikPen, the Foundayo pill, the Ozempic pill and pen, and Mounjaro, plus a second Zepbound listing at list price. Hims credits its program design to in-house clinical experts and names Dr. Craig Primack among them. It's cash-pay, and insurance isn't required.
How it works
You start with an online intake about your health history and goals, and a state-licensed provider reviews it to decide whether you qualify and which drug fits. Depending on your state, that decision may be made without a video visit; where one is required, it's a video or audio appointment. If you're prescribed, the medication ships to you, and Hims says you can start as soon as the same week. After that, care runs through the app: 24/7 messaging with licensed providers, dose adjustments, side-effect support, in-app weight tracking, nutrition and exercise guidance, and a private peer community. Members can opt in to a free Hims smart scale, a $55 value that ships separately and isn't available in every state. If you're already on a GLP-1 elsewhere, Hims says it can often continue your treatment rather than restart it after its providers review your history. GLP-1s aren't available in all 50 states, and Hims doesn't list which ones are excluded.
Pricing transparency
Hims bills two things separately. The Weight Loss Membership is $39 for the first month and renews automatically at $149 a month; the membership doesn't include medication or guarantee a prescription. Medication is billed on top, either monthly or up front depending on the plan. Starting cash prices for medication only are $149 a month for the Wegovy pill, the Wegovy pill microdosing plan, Foundayo and the Ozempic pill, $199 for the Wegovy pen and Ozempic, and $299 for the Zepbound vial and KwikPen. Mounjaro and a second Zepbound listing are shown at $1,899 a month. Hims labels these "from" prices and doesn't publish a per-dose ladder, so expect the medication charge to rise as your dose rises. Adding the membership gives the real starting cost: about $298 a month for a Wegovy pill or Foundayo, $348 for a Wegovy pen and $448 for Zepbound. The medication charge is FSA- and HSA-eligible, but the membership isn't, and FSA/HSA cards can't be kept on file, so you pay by card and claim the reimbursement. You can cancel the medication plan at any time without ending the membership, but canceling the membership also cancels your medication and your access to care.
Branded vs compounded
Brand-name only on the weight menu: the Wegovy pill and pen (semaglutide), the Zepbound vial and KwikPen (tirzepatide), the Foundayo pill (orforglipron), the Ozempic pill and pen (semaglutide) and Mounjaro (tirzepatide). Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo are FDA-approved for weight management. Ozempic and Mounjaro are approved for type 2 diabetes, and Hims prescribes them only to patients who meet the clinical criteria. These are the drugs the weight-loss trials tested, which is the main thing the higher price buys compared with a compounded service. There is no compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide on the Hims weight menu. The "microdosing" Wegovy pill plan uses lower doses than the trials did, so its results aren't covered by that evidence.
