GHRP-2 vs GHRP-6
Two first-generation ghrelin-receptor peptides. GHRP-2 is the more characterized and more aggressive releaser; GHRP-6 is the one defined by how hungry it makes you.
Short answer
Both have human clinical data behind them, which makes the goal the real difference between GHRP-2 and GHRP-6. For a reader focused on muscle, GHRP-2 is the relevant choice; GHRP-6 is marketed for muscle and recovery. For GHRP-2, five days of daily injections in healthy men did not raise IGF-1, and the GH response faded.
GHRP-2
Pralmorelin
Genuinely raises GH (and is an approved diagnostic in Japan), but the same dose lifts cortisol, prolactin and appetite, and desensitizes — no anti-aging outcomes.
Full GHRP-2 evidence reviewGHRP-6
Pulses GH short-term, but its most reliable real-world effect is a surge in appetite; no long-term human outcomes and not approved.

marks a row where the two differ. “Not established” marks a cell the available evidence does not answer. Evidence grades come from our evidence matrix, which grades each molecule on the human data for the use it is marketed for.

Our verdict
GHRP-2 has the stronger human record: reproducible acute GH increases, a multicenter stimulation-test study, and diagnostic approval in Japan. GHRP-6's human data is older but real, showing GH release across intravenous, subcutaneous, intranasal and oral routes. Both come bundled with adrenal spillover, with GHRP-2 generally regarded as the more aggressive ACTH and cortisol releaser, and both drive appetite; GHRP-6's orexigenic effect is its signature. Neither is approved for body composition or anti-aging, both are sold as gray-market research peptides, and no multi-week outcome trials have been run for either.
GHRP-2 fits if
GHRP-2 fits the reader who wants the best-documented GHRP, particularly its validated role as a short-acting probe of pituitary GH output.
GHRP-6 fits if
GHRP-6 is the one to study if you are interested in ghrelin-driven appetite biology or the preclinical cytoprotection thread, keeping in mind its wound and heart findings are rodent-level.
GHRP-2 vs GHRP-6: common questions
- Is either GHRP-2 or GHRP-6 FDA-approved?
- No. GHRP-2 is approved in Japan only as a growth-hormone diagnostic; not FDA-approved; sold as gray-market research peptide. GHRP-6 is not FDA-approved; sold as a gray-market research peptide.
- Which has stronger human evidence, GHRP-2 or GHRP-6?
- Neither clearly. Both have human clinical data. The key source for GHRP-2 is Bowers, Endocrine 2001; for GHRP-6, it is Jaffe, JCEM 1993.
- What are the main safety concerns with GHRP-2 and GHRP-6?
- GHRP-2 also raises cortisol, ACTH and prolactin and increases appetite. For GHRP-6, watch for strong appetite increase; raises ACTH and cortisol; GH response blunts with repeated dosing.

- GHRP-2: a real GH secretagogue, marketed for things it hasn't been shown to do
GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) genuinely raises growth hormone and is an approved diagnostic agent in Japan — but the same dose lifts cortisol, ACTH and prolactin, drives appetite, and desensitizes with daily use. A straight read of the human data behind the anti-aging marketing.

- GHRP-6: the 'hunger' growth-hormone secretagogue, and what the evidence shows
GHRP-6 is a first-generation ghrelin-receptor agonist that pulses growth hormone — but its most reliable real-world effect is a strong, dose-dependent surge in appetite. Real short-term GH pharmacology, preclinical cytoprotection, no long-term human outcomes, and not FDA-approved.
