GHRP-6 vs Hexarelin

Potency versus appetite. Hexarelin is among the strongest GH-releasing peptides ever put into people; GHRP-6 is the milder relative whose hallmark is hunger. Neither is selective.

GHRP-6

Clinical data

Pulses GH short-term, but its most reliable real-world effect is a surge in appetite; no long-term human outcomes and not approved.

Hexarelin

Clinical data

One of the most potent GH secretagogues studied — but it also raises cortisol and prolactin, desensitizes with repeated use, and is unapproved.

Our verdict

Hexarelin has the stronger measured GH effect, releasing substantially more GH than GHRH in controlled human comparisons, but it is not selective; repeated daily subcutaneous dosing raised prolactin, ACTH and cortisol alongside GH, and the GH response shows tachyphylaxis, attenuating with continued use. GHRP-6 also raises ACTH and cortisol, blunts with sustained dosing, and its most consistent real-world effect is appetite. Neither is an approved drug, both are sold as research material of unverified dose and purity, and both are prohibited in sport. Neither has human outcome trials for muscle, fat loss or aging, and they have not been compared directly.

GHRP-6 fits if

GHRP-6 is the relevant molecule for understanding ghrelin-driven hunger and the older multi-route GH-stimulation literature.

Hexarelin fits if

Hexarelin is worth reading about for its CD36 cardiovascular biology, which runs independent of growth hormone, but that work is preclinical and does not make it a therapy.
