What it is

RxSpan MD LLC, based in Beverly Hills, California, is a cash-pay telehealth practice founded by Dr. John Diaz, a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 20 years in practice who trained at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Care is provided by Lion MD, a nationwide medical team led by Dr. Ana Lisa Carr, MD, and Dr. Kelly Tenbrink, MD, and prescriptions are filled by four pharmacies it names: Belmar Pharmacy, Strive Pharmacy, Epiq Scripts and Casa Pharma Rx. Besides weight loss, it sells longevity treatments (NAD⁺ and sermorelin injections and glutathione), hair-loss drugs (oral minoxidil, finasteride with minoxidil, dutasteride) and sexual-health drugs (tadalafil, sildenafil with pycnogenol, vardenafil).

How it works

You complete a short medical intake, choose a medication and plan, and pay; a licensed provider then reviews your case and approves a plan if treatment is appropriate, and RxSpan notes that a prescription isn't guaranteed. Many patients are approved on the assessment alone, and a brief telehealth visit is scheduled when the clinician needs more information. The prescription goes to one of the named pharmacies, and delivery is free and expedited. After that, RxSpan advertises unlimited messaging and appointments with your care team around the clock, with your provider handling check-ins and refills. There's no published coaching curriculum; this is a prescribing practice. Before you choose a plan, ask which of the four pharmacies will fill your order, whether the price changes as your dose rises, what you get back if you stop partway through a prepaid plan, and whether the 12-month renewal is billed at the promo rate or the regular one.

Pricing transparency

Each compounded GLP-1 has a monthly price and prepaid tiers. Semaglutide injection is $249 a month month-to-month, $219 a month on a three-month plan, $199 on a six-month plan, and $175 on a 12-month plan billed as $2,094 up front. Tirzepatide injection is $329 a month, or $243 a month on the 12-month plan ($2,905). Semaglutide capsules are $249 a month ($162 on 12 months) and tirzepatide capsules $349 ($243 on 12 months). The 12-month figures include a STARTNOW promo code and auto-renew. A year of semaglutide month-to-month costs $2,988, against $2,094 prepaid, so the saving is real if you're confident you'll stay on it. Prices include the consult, medication, supplies, shipping and support, and RxSpan says you can cancel or change plans at any time; CareCredit financing is available. Brand-name drugs are priced for the first month: Zepbound $1,069, Ozempic $1,299 and Wegovy $1,349. RxSpan's terms are ten short sections and don't cover refunds, auto-renewal or what happens if you cancel a prepaid plan early, so ask for those in writing before you buy a 12-month plan.

Branded vs compounded

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, each as a weekly injection with B12 or as an oral capsule with B12, plus a microdosing option, and brand-name Wegovy, Ozempic and Zepbound. RxSpan's weight-loss page is candid about the evidence. It states that compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved, that "compounded formulations have not been individually studied for weight-loss efficacy," and that "there is no FDA-approved oral tirzepatide, and compounded capsules cannot be assumed to reproduce the results of approved formulations." Its comparison table, which reflects the founder's reading of the trials, rates the capsules below the injections for expected weight loss. That is the right way to think about it: the injections are the closest match to the trial evidence, and the capsules are a convenience with unproven absorption.
